Our Instructor

Meet James Armstrong, our passionate Sailing Instructor at Bayfield Sailing Academy

Having grown up on a farm just outside Bayfield, Ontario, James developed a love for the water and dreamt of owning his sailboat one day. It was in 2014 when he got the chance to sail on a 56-foot Cabo Rico Mono Hull in George Town, Exuma. That evening, he set a goal to return to Exuma on his own boat, and five years later, he fulfilled his dream, sailing into George Town with Caroline on their 36-foot PDQ Catamaran.

James was originally self-taught, but his desire to learn more led him to the British Virgin Islands in 2017, where he completed his ASA 101, 103, and 104 certifications. In 2022, after extensive sailing adventures in Florida and the Bahamas, he successfully obtained his ASA 201, 203, and 204 certifications on Lake Ontario.

When he's not instructing, James enjoys farming cash crops as a semi-retired farmer. He also loves entertaining guests and sharing his passion for sailing.

Join us at our small sailing school as James continues to follow his dreams and shares his expertise to help you navigate the seas with confidence. Let's embark on an unforgettable sailing journey together!
